Online Window Shopping

My sweet big sister to be is probably the most excited about my second pregnancy. Today we went online to check out some baby stuff. I wanted to make sure we’ll get some good deals on baby stuff so I would checked sites as early as now.

Alyssa wanted me to get this pink and purple play yard for the baby since it’s her favorite color and the baby monitor with display. She was also bugging me to get those pink and red bodysuits we saw online. I told her we’re still scouting for some good deals and we’re not really going to shop yet. She really is excited can you tell?

I’m So Proud of Our Big Sis

I guess I am the happiest and luckiest mum for having the sweetest and most caring eldest in the world. Almost every morning, she tells me, “Mum, I can’t wait to see my baby. I wonder what he looks like.” Then when I pick her up from school, she tells me, “I missed you mum. I can’t stop thinking about you while I’m in school because you’re alone in the house and no one is looking after you.” When we reach home, she sees me lie down in bed, she then tells me, “You just have a rest there, mum. Call me when you need anything ok? If you need food or drink. I will take good care of you.” Who would ever think that hubby and I were able to bring up such a lovely child? Oh, all credits go to our dear God who guides us in this journey called parenting.

And if before, I still have to repeat again and again, “Alyssa, tidy up time.” This time, once is enough. She turns out to be more responsible now. You’ll also be glad to see her compile her DVDs she used to watch while she was 1 to show her baby soon. She even helps daddy to chose between the television stands considering the safeness for the coming baby.

I have so much to be proud of being the mother of this kind young lady – she’s exceptional!

Audio Books for Kids

My little Alyssa always have her bed time stories. She brings 3 books from school, 2 of which are long stories so hubby and I take turns in reading them to her and the other one is a short story book she reads by herself.

When she was still a baby, she was already fascinated with books that she always got herself familiar with the illustrations really quickly. I remembered telling everyone before every time I was asked what gift to give her, “Books, she’ll surely love.” I’m just so glad how she has brought the habit of opening and reading books up until now.

So when hubby taught me how to download audio books, I searched about the benefits kids can get from it to see if it’s worth a try. I actually agree with the following:

  • It enhances their imagination;
  • It improves their listening and comprehension skills;
  • It teaches them the proper pronunciation of words; and
  • It can even be a nice background while the family works on an activity like gardening, cleaning, cooking, whatsoever and laugh or cry together – just like how the radio served the many, way way back.
  • It allows the whole family to know the story of the book together.

I have just seen some nice titles to download like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pinocchio and a lot more. This is another medium of learning for us.
