Valentines Day – Mommy Moments
18th February, 2010
We do celebrate Valentines since the first up to now, but we don’t go out on the day itself. It just makes us feel more in love and it somehow refreshes our first year together where our love was indeed flaming hot. It didn’t end when we had our daughter, which I am really happy and thankful about. My daughter has been my accomplice since last year and last year’s surprise for Daddy was a success, but this year… IT WAS NOT!!! =)
It’s funny how kids can be so honest and true. I bought my surprise card for hubby earlier, but it was already Friday night when I realized that I haven’t written on it yet so I rushed off to finish and keep the card before hubby arrives and that time, hubby was already on his way home. As I write, I told Alyssa that the card is a surprise and that she shouldn’t tell daddy about it and that Daddy can only know about this on Sunday. She lowered her voice and said, “Shhhh… Mum, I won’t tell Dad. It’s a surprise! It’s Valentines day, I want a pancake again for breakfast!” Until…
Dad arrived home. Alyssa came rushing to her Dad on the door and said, “Dad! Dad! Mum has a gift for you. It’s a surprise. You can’t open it now, you can only open it on Sunday because it’s Valentines Day on Sunday!” WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really burst into laughter. But even though Dad already knew about it, he chose not to open it until Sunday.
The next morning (Saturday), Alyssa went to the window and said, “Mum, is it sunny day? Can Dad open his surprise now?” Again… I laughed and said, “Anak, sunny day is different from Sunday. Today is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday.” Oh, how precious my little angle is.
Hope you all had a lovely Valentines celebration. Please share yours in Mommy Moments.
Valentines Pictures 2010 – Girls Talk!
18th February, 2010
I’ve already told our whole Valentines story with lovely surprises, so now all I will share here are the rest of the pictures I’ve taken during our celebration.
How cute is she??? LOL! Sleeping on the road… =)
While we were waiting for our Chinese foods, I asked her to give me a pose and I’m so happy that she did even though she was busy playing with my iPhone.
Random pics taken on our way to the restaurant, before watching Avatar, and just before we hop on the train.
Of course, pictures with mom…
AND
with Dad.
On the actual day…
Here are Dad’s sweet surprises.
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day.
Please join us in Girl’s Talk and share your Valentines pictures too.
Message of Love – Mommy Moments
12th February, 2010
I can’t think of any picture I can share to show how my daughter and I exchange our messages of love. When it comes to saying and showing love, I see to it that I serve as an example to her. I am very vocal about saying “I Love You” to my Alyssa and her Dad. These words are said and heard in our home many times a day. The words I often tell my cheeky munchkin are:
- I love you, Pachuchay!
- I love you, mahal ko!
- I love you, baby ko!
- I love you, baby kong mahal!
- I love you, anak ko!
And she answers “I love you too Mum!” or “I love you Mommy ko!” every time.
And what I love most is when she says those words to me first. At anytime of the day, she’ll just call me and say, “Mum, I love you!”. She often say it when I am not paying attention to what she’s saying, like when I’m cooking and I can’t look at her and just answer back, “Ok, anak.” or “Really?”. And when she goes poo (she still can’t do it on her own, I have to hold her hands while she poo and I would want to do it until she tells me that she can do it by herself) as I hold her hands, she will say “I love you, Mum!”
One time, I saw a friend’s post in Facebook about a child’s answer when asked, “What is LOVE?”. Then, right there and then, I asked my daughter the same question. I am just so curious what she thinks of the word “LOVE”. She answered, “YOU! I… LOVE… YOU!!!” (in slow motion). Oh my, I was teary eyed. I will never forget how I felt that day.
Daddy’s just the same when sending the messages of love. He’s as vocal as I am and we make sure that we hug and kiss each other and Alyssa always. We want to show our daughter that showing love isn’t something that she should be ashamed or afraid of.
I hope every parent will not be afraid to show the LOVE in the family. To know how others send their messages of love to their kids, head on to Mommy Chris’s Mommy Moments by hitting the badge below.
