11th February, 2011
Alyssa’s school has a week-long celebration starting Monday next week so to add a little to the school’s budget, they had what they call “Own Clothes Day” today. When kids decide to wear their own clothes – meaning NOT their uniforms, they will have to pay a minimum of £1.

This is one of those days where kids get so excited about because they are able to wear their “best” clothes and be like who they want to be. As for my girl – as always – she wants to be like a princess!!!
So, dresses and skirts are out of the closet this Friday morning for mix and match purposes. Today, she chose this skirt we bought in SM Department store (a department store in the Philippines where I spent almost my whole day to shop for Alyssa’s clothes and window shop for boys clothes) and the plain turtle neck that’s been around for about a year now. The picture above was taken at the party we attended last month, but this is her exact outfit today, only the hair is well tied up.

When Alyssa was in Nursery, I was able to join her in all her 3 “school trips” (that’s how it’s called here) and was really able to take pictures of her and some of her classmates. But now that she’s in Reception (Kinder in equivalent), parents are no longer allowed to join and that really saddens me because I remembered, until Grade 6, I still have a chaperone. =(
Here, taking pictures of other kids is prohibited. When you take pictures, make sure that you only target your own kid/s. Upon enrollment, they even asked us to sign an agreement that we allow our kid/s photos to be taken by the school and if we don’t agree, then no photos will be taken. That’s how strict they are here. So when I take pictures of Alyssa with her other classmates, I can’t post them in any of my social networking pages or in short, on the internet.
1st SCHOOL TRIP
Their very first educational trip was at the farm and I believe she enjoyed it. She didn’t mind the muddy forest (unlike before.. she hates dirt! haha..) It just snowed so it was even more muddier!
She was also able to touch different kinds of animals and even a worm.. (I, myself, haven’t touched a worm yet..and I have no plans.. ^_^)
2nd SCHOOL TRIP
Alyssa enjoyed the whole trip. She didn’t get bored and she said it was really fun!
It was a lovely day and even us, adults, enjoyed it because spring has sprung!!!
I prepared tuna and corn sandwich for our lunch since they all brought sandwiches during the 1st trip and we were the only ones who brought rice (lesson learned..;)) Right after we arrived home, Alyssa asked for lunch and she was referring to RICE. LOL! She is not used to sandwiches for lunch..
3rd SCHOOL TRIP
This trip was the most fun! It’s summer time!!!
We went to Greenwich Park and just enjoyed the sun. Moms (yes, no dads there) were able to make chit chat just about anything. We were able to exchange phone numbers while the kids play. We all loved it and the kids were all oozing with energy.
This is my share for this week’s Mommy Moments. Share your kid’s educational trip with Mommy Chris and with all the other moms and let’s all have some fun!
14th March, 2010
Today, UK and Ireland celebrate Mothering Sunday (Mother’s Day). It is always the fourth Sunday of Lent. It is the time when children pay respect to their mothers by giving flowers, gift and/or card as a thank you for all their love and care throughout the year.
It’s unusual as we know Mother’s day is on the month of May, but because we now live in UK, I believe nothing’s wrong with celebrating it this time and having a very sweet daughter makes me enjoy it all the more.
Their teachers are too sweet to teach our kids about the importance of Mother’s Day and really put an effort in helping our kids do their cards for us.
Here’s my pachuchay, miswa, batuts… She said, “Mum, close your eyes… I have a surprise for you… TADAH!!! Happy Mother’s Day, Mummy!”
And here’s my beautiful card. I sooo love it!!!
And to say thank you, I made my sweet little darling her favorite banana pancake for snacks.
And she was so kind to give that sweet smile before she digs in… LOL!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums in UK and advance to all the other mothers all over the world!
My entry for this week’s Pixel Bug Weekend.
